Answering Your Random Science Question
Below are the steps you need to follow to answer your random science question
Step 1: Finding Your Question

Step 5: Check-In #1
- Choose a question from the Random Science Question wall. Make sure Mrs. Rewerts approves of your question.
- Write down your initial ideas about your question. Before any research, what do you think the answer to your question is? Post this on your Weebly blog using the title "Random Science Questions: My Initial Thoughts".
- Use Wikipedia and Wiki answers to find some information about your topic. Remember, this information may not be true but it is often a good starting point.
Step 4: Taking Notes
- Use Microscoft Word to take notes about what you find about your topic.
Step 5: Check-In #1
- Click the button below to submit the information you have gathered so far.
Step 6: Find Credible Resources
Step 7: Summarize Your Answer
- A definition for any key terms in your explanation
- An explanation of why this happens
- Any interesting facts about your topic
- A question you still have about your topic.
- Using Sweet Search browse different websites to try and find the answer to your question. Click here to watch a tutorial of how to use Sweet Search. Add onto your web and/or notes as you are researching. Cross out any previous ideas that were incorrect and add your new ideas.
Step 7: Summarize Your Answer
- Write a paragraph that summarizes the answer to your question. Your summary needs to include the following:
- A definition for any key terms in your explanation
- An explanation of why this happens
- Any interesting facts about your topic
- A question you still have about your topic.

- Submit your answer by clicking the button below and completing Check-In #2.
Step 8: Find An Interesting Website/Video/Resource
Create a Microsoft Word document that has the following things:
Step 11: Create a Poster
Your poster will need the following things:
- Find a website or a video that you think is interesting. It can be something that helps explain the answer to your question or something funny and intriguing. Save this website by adding it to your "favorites" bar.
- Click here to find our how to create a QR Code that will link people to your website, video, or resource.
- Save the word document that has your QR Code.
- Print a copy of your QR Code.
Create a Microsoft Word document that has the following things:
- Your typed summary paragraph (this should take up almost a whole page)
- Any pictures that you want to print for your poster
- Your QR Code (Make sure this is big enough for the poster you will be creating)
Step 11: Create a Poster
- Create a poster that displays your summary paragraph, a few pictures related to your topics (hand-drawn or printed), and your QR Code.
Your poster will need the following things:
- Your Random Science Question
- Your name
- At least 3 pictures (hand-drawn or printed) that show illustrations or diagrams that provide a visual representation of your topic
- Your paragraph summarizing the answer to your Random Science Question
- One QR Code that links to a video, resource, or website that is relevant to your topic
